Mandi
Callaway Powers
Mandi has joined Providence Hill
Farm and relocated to Jackson from
Long Beach, Mississippi with her
husband, Shannon, and young son,
Braxton. Mandi grew up in
Reno, Nevada and Northern California
and rode and showed as a working
student with Laurie Alden. In
1994, her family relocated to Long
Beach, Mississippi where Mandi
continued riding as a working student
with Fellers Drury.
Mandi became a professional at
the age of eighteen and started
Gulfhaven Farm. While developing
a lesson and training program,
Mandi continued her education at
William Carey College and University
of Southern Mississippi. Throughout
her equestrian career, not only
has Mandi continued her education,
but has worked in the marketing
field for Hallmark Management and
Starvision Satellite.
In 2002, Mandi returned to Reno,
Nevada to train for Zephyr Farms. She
prepared horses and clientele for
the show ring and maintained a
nutritional and exercise program
for 25 horses. Later, Mandi
relocated to Houston, Texas to
work with Teri Bludworth at Blue
Fox Farm. Mandi worked with
a team of staff to manage the operations
and training requirements of a
66-horse barn. Mandi also
ran the lesson program for beginner
through advanced riders and the
horsemanship camp program. In
addition, she cared for the breeding
program stallions, mares and foals. Mandi
then became the Director of Training
and Instruction at All Heart Horse
Farm in Manvel, Texas. There,
she developed an extensive training
program for top quality sport horses
based on their needs and their
owners’ goals. She
coached junior riders to a level
of competition that not only required
an intense riding curriculum, but
a thorough knowledge of the equine
athlete and its needs.
Mandi has coached multiple riders
to top honors at local and regional
horse shows in divisions from walk-trot
through junior hunters to the medal
classes. Mandi has shown
and qualified horses to numerous
championships at local, regional
and national shows, as well as
qualifying a top quarter horse
for the AQHYA World Finals. Beginning
a career in Dressage while in Houston,
one month later, Mandi took honors
of Open High Point at her
first show, while her students
scores ranged from the 60’s
to a 73. Also, while in Houston,
Mandi coached the Rice University
Equestrian Team in Hunter/Jumper
and Dressage.
Mandi believes her professional
experience and educational background
will allow her to develop an educational
lesson program at Providence Hill
Farm that will benefit the growth
of current and future equestrians
and equine athletes. Mandi
would love to meet you all, please
stop by and say “hello”. |
